If I could describe myself with one word, it would be learner. Whether it is in the classroom or in the middle of a store I am always trying to broaden my knowledge and take in the world around me. This is especially exhibited through my hard work in school. I have always been a dedicated and involved student throughout grade school and high school. As a biomedical engineering major on the pre-med track, I feel that this quality of mine has adapted well to the rigorous course load and expectations of an engineering student. Even with my priorities set on achieving the best grades I can, I like to push myself to achieve in other ways outside of the classroom as well. I enjoy filling my time tutoring, working a part time job, and spending time with my friends and family. In these experiences I get to learn more about myself and others. Every day I interact with new people and learn more about the world around me—through grade school students, customers at the restaurant I work at, or hearing about my little sister’s day at school. Through the University Honors Program at the University of Cincinnati I hope to get more involved in opportunities to learn about other people’s lives and potentially help in any way they need. I am interested in being a peer leader and continuing to tutor through the program Bearcat Buddies. It is important to me to give back to others in the ways that I have experienced guidance and positive influences in my life, and I am excited to be in the Honors Program because I believe it possesses many opportunities for me to explore this interest. I cannot wait for my future as I get involved in the community and continue to learn both inside and outside the classroom.
